( it wasn't a lie of any sorts-- more so just a subtle means of unstitching where she came from, a human race not many were familiar with even within her own world. it's an adjustment, coming to terms with the fact that anyone she gets remotely close to here is someone that, when returns home, she may never hear from again.

the institute served as a glamoured church in which only the shadowhunters, or nephilim, could see and enter, disregarding permission. a local power base of sorts, the very power that lay acquainted with the runes marked along her skin. it's a bit of a handful to explain, really. baby steps just worked better.

Not everyone has a story. I'm thankful enough to still have my parents, though they left me and my brother on our own quite awhile ago. Kind of raised to be that way.

Eye for an eye, it seems.
