( she's learned her brother through and through, and part of growing up with him was noting the barely-there tells of words that weren't entirely of the truth. the brief little flits of his gaze that seem unable to keep steady with her own, the stiff rise of a smile that speaks more of a plea to drop it than to reassure. others may not notice the intricacies of his facade, may claim that he always carries just one, but he's always been more complex than that.

cue a touch of sardonic humor, and you've got the full alec lightwood 'dodging trifecta'.

it's evident, she's sure, that the look translating through her own features suggests she isn't buying it, but for the sake of getting food in her stomach and cleaning up, she'll momentarily let it fall to the wayside.
